We have several positions available in our Organization including Housekeeping, Yard Work and Grocery Delivery. If you enjoy working with Seniors and making a difference in their lives please contact us today.
Yardwork Services
Services include lawn cutting, fall cleanup of leaves, gardening, flower beds and weeding. As with all of our services we can provide as much or as little based on what your needs are. We can also do small hedge trimming and pruning. As always if cost is a barrier we will work with you to overcome that barrier. During spring and fall we can also do outside window cleaning and eaves cleaning as well.
Volunteers Needed!
Here at Saskatoon Services for Seniors we strive to make a difference every day. We do this by helping seniors to remain in their own homes safely for as long as possible. The summer season offers our very popular Yard Work and Gardening programs. We encourage anyone with a heart of gold who likes working outdoors to volunteer so that seniors in our community can keep their yards and gardens looking beautiful now that winter has finally receded. If you or someone you know would be interested in helping seniors in our community, please contact our office today. All help is greatly appreciated.

What Causes Hearing Loss?
Hearing loss may be a result of environment, aging, health factors, or a congenital condition. The causes of hearing loss include: *Loud noises. Loud noises can overwork hair cells in the ear, causing irreversible damage. *Age-related factors. Presbycusis, is a natural by-product of aging and is caused by changes in our ears as we age. *Health factors. A variety of health factors can impact hearing. *Ototoxic medications. Some medicines can cause ototoxic hearing loss. *Congenital condition. Hearing loss is the most common congenital condition in Canada. If you suspect hearing loss, the hearing professionals at Alto Hearing are here to support you.

Fruity Popsicle – Blend watermelon with strawberries or raspberries and a splash of lemon or lime juice and freeze. 3. Creamsicle Smoothie – A few scoops frozen OJ and vanilla coconut milk ice cream, almond milk to thin it out. 4. Fudgesicles – 2 frozen bananas, 1/2-1 cup almond or cashew milk, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup.
Seniors Need Connection & Support
Researchers have found that loneliness is just as lethal as smoking 15 cigarettes per day. Many Canadians may not be aware of the connection between loneliness and poor nutrition and the other serious health implications. With concerns around food security and affordability also being top of mind in Canada, we know our senior population is at a higher risk for both. As an organization dedicated to caring for older adults, Home Instead is urging Canadians to join the effort in ensuring our senior loved ones are getting the care and nutrition they need and helping to end loneliness among older adults.
Plan for the Future
There are many conversations that families should have. One of those concerns your final wishes. Planning your funeral and cemetery arrangements in advance means you can discuss the options with family in a relaxed, stress-free environment. The other conversation is planning for your future health care. If you were sick and couldn’t speak for yourself, would your family know your wishes? You might be surprised by the space between what you want for future care and what your loved ones think you want. It’s important that they know your values, what is meaningful in your life, and how you would like decisions to be made.

Delightful Food Tip: Broth for Another Day
We’ve all been there—buying bulk liquid broth on a super sale only to realize it expires in just a couple of days. But fear not! Instead of making a colossal amount of soup or engaging in a messy water balloon battle, freeze that broth for later use. However, a word of caution: don’t freeze it directly in the cartons. Liquid expands when frozen, leading to bursts. Plus, the wax lining may affect the taste. Pour the broth into freezer-safe containers, filling them ¾ full, and enjoy 2-3 months of flavorful broth to elevate your culinary adventures. Stay tuned for next month’s revelation about the delightful world of wontons!
