The state of your mouth can offer valuable insights into your dental, oral and overall health. Any bleeding when you brush your gums is a sign that you should see your dentist. Unhealthy gums can affect your overall health. Atherosclerosis, clogging of the arteries, has a strong link to gum disease. Pain on biting might mean a cracked tooth. Sugar sensitivity usually indicates a cavity. Tenderness to cold might just need a change of toothpaste. Tenderness to hot is likely to be more serious. The only way to find out, for sure, what’s going on is to see your dentist.
Castor Oil Pack – Say What?!?
Our lymphatic system has been described as the sewer system of the body, collecting waste products from around the body and delivering them to the liver for filtering. If the lymphatic system gets sluggish, waste products and toxins can build up and we might notice more infection, digestive changes, and overall sluggishness. Castor oil is absorbed with the help of heat into the tissues supports lymphatic movement. This helps with gentle lymphatic drainage and detoxification support. Easy Castor Oil Pack; apply some organic castor oil over the whole abdomen, cover with an old towel, apply a hot water bottle and relax for about 30 minutes, 5x a week. Not during menstruation.
What is VOXX HPT?
VOXX HPT is a specific sequence and pattern of neuroreceptor activation on the bottom of the feet which triggers a signal to help your brainstem reach homeostasis. Some mechanisms of homeostasis are body temperature, hormone release, blood sugar and blood pressure. A deviation from any normal set point can cause pain. HPT can reduce pain, increase strength, increase stability and balance, as well as enhance a range of motions and provide for faster reaction times. The VOXX HPT pattern is woven or molded into different iterations of products including hosiery and footwear accessories. The science is proven. The results are extraordinary!
Hearing Loss and Depression
Research continues to prove a strong connection between hearing loss and depression. The two are referred to as invisible conditions, as you cannot see their effects at first glance. Because of this, their effects can often go unacknowledged, unrecognized, and untreated. Hearing loss affects one’s ability to communicate, which can cause stress, fatigue, social isolation, and, in turn, depression. Along with depression, clients with untreated hearing loss are known to experience anxiety, relationship problems, low self-esteem, stress, and other negative emotions. However, hearing aids have been found to help combat these issues.
Exercise Helps Manage Hormones
Hormones contribute to all aspects of our wellbeing, and it’s important that our bodies produce the right amounts. Mood swings, loss of strength, and a lower libido – all are common among people over 50 because of hormonal changes. Exercise can lessen symptoms brought by changing hormones – while also boosting quality of life, lowering aches and pains, and bringing countless physical and mental benefits. “Hormones are substances produced by your endocrine glands that have a tremendous effect on bodily processes,” says WebMD. “They affect growth and development, mood, sexual function, reproduction, and metabolism.” For more information check out our blog at proACTIVEfit.ca

Healthy Holiday Season Tips
Party time: Drink a large glass of water and have a healthy snack before going to a party; add a few healthy choices in and minimize the treats. This can be a good time of year to add in a probiotic or digestive enzymes to help with the sugar over-indulgence. Alcohol – make a spritzer or use soda water to cut down on pop use. This will lead to better sleep and a happier person the next day! Don’t throw away your exercise regime – from a class at the gym to a simple walk, keep moving over the holidays. This helps to keep your mind clear and digestion moving. Be mindful – deep breathing, yoga or a simple meditation can help with holiday stress.

Cleaning Dentures Properly
To keep your dentures clean, soak them at least once a day. Products available in stores aren’t always strong enough to fight plaque and residue buildup, so try using a professional strength cleaner a couple of days a week, and a weaker store-bought cleaner on the other days. Never use toothpaste on dentures, as it can take the finish off and is only designed for natural teeth. Soaking your dentures softens the residue, but it is still very important to brush them with a denture brush afterwards. Always follow the instructions included with your cleaner to avoid damaging your dentures.
