With the year we’ve had, taking time for self-care is extremely important. Supporting your physical, mental and emotional/spiritual health increases your resilience to the different stressors you encounter. Mentally – practicing self-compassion and acceptance to keep you in a positive frame of mind. Emotionally/Spiritually – practicing activities such as meditation, journaling, prayer, guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation, as well as maintaining positive relationships with family/friends. Physically – practicing regular exercise and healthy eating, as well as getting good quality sleep (for better sleep, avoid heavy carbs at supper, try no screens or snacking after 8 pm, and try some deep breathing).

Where Are You At Now?
The reality is, over the last year many lives have been devasted by loss of health (physical, mental or emotional) or loss of financial security, OR worse…loss of loved ones. On the otherhand, many have not only survived but thrived, taking challenges and turning them into OPPORTUNITIES. Which camp are you in? Perhaps you are familiar with what Henry Ford said many years ago, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re RIGHT.” So here’s to being like the little train who said, ‘I think I can, I think I can.” I for one, believe amazing things are about to happen!
Lower EMF Laptops
When it comes to EMF reduction, using a wired internet connection and disabling WiFi is a great way to reduce the RF levels on your laptop. Many people don?t realize that large electric fields can also be present when using a laptop. The easiest way to significantly reduce electric fields is to make sure any laptop you purchase has a three-pronged power cord. High electric fields play a large part in feeling tired when working on a laptop for long periods of time. Check your laptop cord next time you use it and see if it has two or three prongs!

How Much Are You Getting?
June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month! No matter what the season is, the generally accepted recommendation is to consume 8-10 servings of fresh fruits and veggies every day. But the reality is that very few of us get anywhere near that amount. In my experience working with clients, I have found that on average, they are only getting 2-4 servings/day (and likely less, since people tend not to want to admit what their nutritional habits REALLY are). So, if you are one of those people, supplementing with a high-quality live whole food supplement would be highly recommended.
EMFs and Melatonin Suppression
Melatonin is a hormone found in all living creatures. Also called the “sleep hormone” – its production increases with evening darkness. It is a powerful antioxidant with a role in protecting DNA as well as other benefits. EMFs play havoc with the production of melatonin. This has been shown to cause circadian rhythm sleep disorders, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, glaucoma, depressive disorder, breast and prostate cancer and others (Pandi-Perumal 2008b https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18571301/). Paying attention to EMFs around your home and length of exposure can go a long way to getting you back to a healthier you.
Disability Tax Credit Eligibility
When people have restrictions, physically or mentally, they may be entitled to apply for a tax credit. There are different ways in which a person can be eligible for the disability tax credit (DTC). In all cases, the impairment must be prolonged. Also, the person must meet one of the following criteria: 1. Is markedly restricted in at least one of the basic activities of daily living. 2. Is significantly restricted in two or more or the basic activities of daily living (can include a vision impairment). 3. Needs life-sustaining therapy. The credit can allow a person $2500 in tax savings each year as well as a $25,000 Lump Sum Refund. Expert help is available in applying for this substantial tax credit.

Introduce the Idea of Caregiving
You can talk to your loved one about caregiving even before they need it. If you expect your loved one won’t be open to the idea, you could try: 1) Suggesting hiring a “housekeeper”, as seniors often find this easier to accept. 2) Explaining that hiring someone can help reduce physical tasks, calm their worries, and allow them to continue to live independently. 3) Asking your loved one’s doctor to support the idea. 4) Proposing a caregiver visit on a trial basis. Once your loved one sees the benefits, they may warm up to the idea and even request additional services.
