Summer is Better Together

Spending the summer in a retirement community is a wonderful opportunity to build new friendships and strengthen existing ones. Residents often have fascinating life stories and experiences to share, creating meaningful connections. Participating in group activities like bingo, gardening, arts and crafts, or exercise classes encourages conversation and camaraderie. Holiday celebrations, cultural events, and shared meals also bring people together. These friendships provide emotional support, reduce feelings of loneliness, and encourage a more active lifestyle. By connecting through shared interests and daily activities, residents help create a welcoming, supportive community where everyone feels valued, included, and less alone.

Make the Most of Every Summer Moment

Summer is all about laughter, connection, and making memories that last. Good hearing helps you enjoy every moment—whether it’s a BBQ with friends, a family picnic, or the sound of waves on the beach. If you’re starting to miss out on the sounds you love, a hearing professional can help you rediscover them. With the right support, you can stay connected and fully present all season long. Looking for a hearing clinic that offers a complimentary hearing test, free follow-ups, and a wide selection of discreet, advanced solutions? We’re here to help you enjoy summer to the fullest.

Travelling with Dentures

This summer, when you travel, be sure you are prepared for denture care. Bring a sealable container, a soft-bristle toothbrush, toothpaste, denture cleanser, adhesive, and any other items that you use regularly. If you have stored your old dentures dry, they will need to be soaked for up to 24 hours in water with a little Listerine in it. Always inspect the bathroom before you leave to be sure that you have everything. If you can find a denturist at your destination before you get there, you will at least have eliminated one concern. Contact them and note their hours.

The Link Between Nutrition & Aging

Up to half of older adults are at risk for malnutrition, a condition that makes them vulnerable to increased risk of falling, slower recovery times, repeat hospitalizations, and possibly death. Thankfully, older adults, their caregivers, and loved ones can take several steps to better understand the factors that influence their nutritional needs and create a personalized plan for healthy eating: consulting a doctor or registered dietitian, focusing on nutrient-rich staples, staying hydrated, and addressing food insecurity. Comfort Keeper caregivers can help prepare nutritious, sustaining meals to help older adults maintain independence.

Reset (Not Restrict) in August

As summer begins to wind down, it’s a wonderful opportunity to check in with your health before the busyness of fall arrives. Small, consistent choices can create lasting change, especially during perimenopause and menopause when your body is asking for a different kind of support. Through acupuncture, nutrition, mindset, and lifestyle guidance, I help women restore balance, improve energy, support hormone health, and feel at home in their bodies again. You don’t have to do it alone. This month, choose to nourish yourself, embrace progress over perfection, and take one step closer to feeling your very best.

Hear Life More Fully

Hearing loss often develops gradually, making it easy to overlook the early warning signs. If you frequently ask others to repeat themselves, struggle to follow conversations in noisy places, turn the television up louder than everyone else, or notice ringing in your ears, it may be time for a hearing assessment. Many people assume others are mumbling when the real issue is reduced hearing. Early detection can make a significant difference in communication, relationships, and overall quality of life. If these signs sound familiar, book a professional hearing evaluation and discover solutions that can help you reconnect with the sounds that matter most.
