Pregnancy & Chiropractic Care

Why is chiropractic care so important during pregnancy? At its most basic premise, chiropractic will help you and your nervous system adapt during this major shift. It will help you deal with all the structural, hormonal and emotional stressors. Structurally, chiropractic will help keep your joints moving appropriately so you can make room for your growing baby. When the pelvis and low back vertebrae are moving appropriately, your nerves can freely flow to all your muscles and organs, which may result in less pain and more nutrients to baby. Other benefits seen during chiropractic during pregnancy include headache relief, decrease in nausea and overall stress reduction.

Optimize Your Golf Game!

Have you taken that first swing of the day and felt like things just aren’t moving right? Whether you are late for your tee time, focused on your first big drive, or catching up with your friends, it is easy to forget the importance of a good warm up. Your warmup can be the difference between a great day on the course, or a frustrating day with fifteen bogies and a strained rotator cuff. Even before trying your warm up swings, you should start with a routine of stretching and mobility exercises. This includes warming up your shoulders, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, hip mobility…and gets the blood pumping!

Allergies and Food Intolerances

Allergies and food intolerances usually result from our diminished ability to digest certain basic foods, such as milk, wheat, egg, or soy. Our digestive system may have weakened due to not having enough enzymes to break down the food, or some other reasons, including genetic factors. Once an allergy or food intolerance has developed, it is difficult for the immune system to correct itself and get back in shape. In time, the allergies may grow in strength and bring on additional allergies that cause increasing issues for us. Bioresonance can help to treat allergies and food intolerances swiftly and effectively.

Digital vs Text Book?

Today’s students see themselves as digital natives, the first generation to grow up surrounded by technology like smartphones, tablets and e-readers. We’ve seen more investment in classroom technologies, with students now equipped with school-issued iPads and access to e-textbooks. The question is, do we learn better from printed books than digital versions? The answer from researchers is a qualified yes. Print books are tangible; the act of turning pages, dragging highlighters across information, and seeing progress has been shown to leave spatial impressions on your mind that help absorb content. And print books don’t have online distractions!

Freedom at Any Age

These days the mobility market is full of possibilities. Rather than being confined to the inside of your home or relying on friends and family to take you out, consider the freedom of a mobility scooter. Battery powered scooters have come a long way and are now more affordable than ever. They provide the freedom to get around, they conserve physical energy, and they also provide you access to places you may not have previously been able to go. Along with the freedom, mobility scooters offer an element of safety. They provide stability and safety both indoors and outdoors reducing the risk of falls and injury.

Summer is here, blossoms are opening among lovely greens and the sun sets beautifully each night. Perhaps the peaceful calm of summer can coast beside you as make the move to quit smoking. Think of all the summery fun things you can do to keep yourself busy: Go to the lake, go fishing, spend time on the beach, or go to the zoo with yours kids or grandkids. With laughing children around every corner, why not get outside and enjoy the fresh festivities of summer this year. Your health matters. Fresh air is always better with a fresh start.

Get Too Much Sun?

If you have a sunburn, applying Aloe Vera is a great way to promote healing and get respite from the pain and swelling. Aloe Vera is a tropical medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years to treat skin conditions, such as wounds and burns. It is so effective at soothing burns that it’s sometimes referred to as the “burn plant.” To treat a sunburn, spread a layer of pure gel extracted from the inside of an Aloe Vera leaf over the burnt skin. You can grow your own plants at home, or you can use a store-bough product, as long as it is 100% Aloe Vera gel.

Dentures and TMJ Disorders

TMJ disorders, or temporomandibular joint disorders, can sometimes be caused by a misaligned bite. When your dentures no longer fit properly because of ridge resorption and worn down tooth anatomy, this can lead to an incorrect bite, which in turn can cause TMJ pain. Symptoms like headaches, popping in the jaw, difficulty moving the jaw, pain in the jaw, neck pain, dizziness, pain in the ears, ringing in your ears, or even hearing loss could occur. If you experience these symptoms, talk with your denturist to see how they can help with this issue. Also, get your dentures checked regularly to prevent further problems.

Sunscreen 101

Summer is in full swing! Have you been protecting yourself against sun exposure? When selecting a sunscreen, go for the “broad spectrum” protection. Sunscreens with this label protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Make sure your sunscreen has a sun protection factor of 30 or higher. The SPF number is the level of protection the sunscreen provides against harmful rays. Higher SPF numbers do mean more protection, but the higher you go, the smaller the difference becomes. Secondly, look at the ingredients. Physical blockers (titanium dioxide, zinc oxide) provide the best protection and cause less skin irritation than chemical sunscreens.
