EFT for Emotional Freedom

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), or “tapping,” combines acupressure with psychology to release emotional blocks and ease stress. By tapping on specific energy points, EFT helps manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, and anger, creating new neural pathways. Research shows that tapping reduces cortisol levels, which improves emotional resilience and supports clearer thinking. Clients find EFT useful for processing past trauma, handling daily stressors, and achieving emotional balance. This approach empowers you to embrace life with renewed clarity, strength, and self-acceptance. Reclaim your emotional freedom, reconnect with your potential, and move forward with confidence and peace.

Staying Strong and Independent

At UHC, our team is dedicated to providing the best in home care. Our nurses, PSWs, and physiotherapists assist with Activities of Daily Living and encourage our clients to engage physically, mentally, and socially. A healthy diet and daily movement help maintain physical independence. An exercise that can and should be done daily is Sit-to-Stand. Choose a chair or seat of any kind; with feet flat on the floor, lean forward slightly and push yourself up to standing. Reach back and return to a sitting position. Repeat this movement 10-15 times, 3-4 times per day! Enjoy your strong body! Universal Home Care & Associates

The Importance of Vitamin D

During these dark winter months here in Manitoba, the sun’s rays are not strong enough for our bodies to produce sufficient Vitamin D. This is why Osteoporosis Canada recommends that most Canadian adults should take a daily vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D plays an essential role in bone health by facilitating the absorption of calcium. It also helps maintain muscles and reduce the risk of fractures caused by falls. Some studies have suggested that it may reduce the risk of certain diseases. Talk with one of our pharmacists about recommended doses or to learn more about other supplements, vitamins and minerals.

Navigating Winter Months With Dementia

Seasonal changes affect us all. As days get shorter and we spend less time outside, many of us feel a shift in mood. For those living with dementia, winter can increase disorientation, restlessness, and confusion. Shorter days and colder weather may intensify symptoms like sundowning when agitation rises in the late afternoon. Limited sunlight can lead to seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Caregivers can make winter more manageable by creating a warm, well-lit environment, setting a daily routine, and incorporating indoor activities. Simple comforts like cozy blankets and familiar music can bring calm and help loved ones feel grounded. If you need support this season, Reliable Home Care is here to help.

Music Therapy And Autism

Imagine how frustrating it must be to be unable to communicate your feelings. The amount of individuals diagnosed with autism is increasing at an alarming rate. Many with autism struggle with communication, social, emotional, physical, and sensory issues. Music therapy can use music and its elements to address the needs of those with autism. Interventions such as improvisation, instrument playing, singing, movement, and listening to music can help them understand and express their emotions, engage with others, teach concepts, and express themselves in a safe environment. Helping the individuals with autism, in turn, helps the caregivers of these individuals.

Occupational Therapy for Children

Pediatric Occupational Therapy supports children in developing essential skills for daily life and learning, addressing challenges like ADHD, autism, and sensory processing disorders. Therapists use targeted strategies to improve focus, organizational skills, and sensory integration. Key benefits include:
Building coping strategies for anxiety
Promoting independence in daily activities like eating and dressing
Enhancing fine and gross motor skills
Supporting social skills and emotional regulation
Developing visual-perceptual and cognitive abilities
Encouraging age-appropriate play and social engagement
These interventions foster a child’s participation in school and social settings, enhancing their sense of belonging.

Boost Your Motivation & Drive!

Tyrosine is an amazing amino acid that our body uses to make the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine is what boosts motivation, drive, determination and focus. It is our feel good center and reward system. During times of stress there is a decline in the levels of certain neurotransmitters. By mitigating this decline, l-tyrosine supplementation optimizes brain function and memory and helps to decrease cognitive fatigue. Tyrosine is also a precursor to the thyroid hormones T3 and T4, which are responsible for healthy thyroid function, maintaining metabolism and energy.
