SOS urgently needs the community’s help to replace its aging bus! For 57 years, SOS has been connecting people of all ages to programs that support their well-being. Thanks to community support, the SOS Connecting Community Campaign has raised $100,000 toward its $200,000 goal. The bus supports essential programs; taking seniors grocery shopping, children to our afterschool programs, and exciting outings for families and youth. We need your help to reach our fundraising goal! Businesses can have their logos displayed on the new bus by becoming sponsors. Contact Sharon at SOS for more information. Gratitude is Very Powerful
Thanksgiving is a great time to practice gratitude, a high vibrational frequency. When you are grateful, you attract higher positive energies. Try writing in a gratitude journal every day to attract these energies. List all the things that happened during the day that you are grateful for. Gratitude is connected with greater happiness; it helps people feel positive emotions and improves health. As a Certified Body/Emotion Code Practitioner, Permelia can help you release unprocessed negative (trapped) emotions that will assist you in being grateful and will help you attract even more positive energy. Are Your Vaccines Up to Date?
Fall boosters for COVID-19 will be available in October. This is also a great time to update vaccination schedules for travel, pneumonia, shingles, and more. Your pharmacist can help provide information and answer many of the questions that you may have regarding vaccines. Vaccines can help prevent disease and save lives. Individuals most at risk are: * people over 65 or under 5; * pregnant women; * residents of long-term care facilities; and * people with chronic diseases such as diabetes. Please book online to choose the day and time that will work for you to come in for your COVID-19 and additional important vaccines.
How Old are Your Dentures?
It is recommended that dentures be replaced every 5-8 years. If you have delayed replacing your dentures for over 5 years, be ready for a long adjustment period, usually 60+ days. The changes to your jaws and muscles during that time are significant. The bone loss could be 5-15mm; add 5-10 mm of wear on your denture teeth, and the changes are huge. To succeed, you need to wear them for 8-12 hours daily so your muscles and ligaments can adapt. Contact Accura Denture Clinic for all your denture needs.
Are You Suffering from Knee Arthritis?
Approximately 25% of adults over the age of 60 suffer from symptomatic knee osteoarthritis. An active lifestyle is important to maintain mobility and overall health; aching knees can greatly hinder mobility and independence. Custom foot orthotics and knee bracing are conservative forms of care to offload a painful knee joint, to allow for improved mobility! Wait times for a knee replacement can be long and painful – the use of custom knee bracing and custom foot orthotics can keep you moving and supported in the interim. Book in for an assessment at Common Sense Orthotics to see if orthotics or braces can support you and your active lifestyle!

Shifting Perception
We can’t change what we can’t see. Biofield Tuning helps you notice the static, stuckness, and stress patterns in your biofield, so your energy can naturally reorganize into greater harmony. Awareness opens the door, and Biofield Tuning can help clarify these patterns and help you step through them and actually create change. This work is cumulative; each session builds on the last. By getting regular tune-ups and simply tuning into your own biofield, your system can reset and restore itself, supporting more balance in your everyday life.
Minimize Joint Pain and Stiffness
As the weather shifts into the cool and damp days of fall, many people with arthritis notice an unwelcome change: more joint pain and stiffness. Tips to minimize discomfort include: *Dress in layers, use heating pads, and keep your home comfortably warm to avoid joint stiffness. *Gentle exercise like walking, yoga or swimming can improve circulation and keep joints flexible. *Dehydration can worsen inflammation, so drink plenty of water. *Eat a diet rich in omega-3s, colourful vegetables and whole grains. *Talk to your doctor about glucosamine, chondroitin or vitamin D. *Manage stress with meditation, deep breathing and restful sleep.

Rolfing for Better Movement
There is voluntary movement like picking up an item and involuntary movement such as posture. Postural movement is a result of long-term patterns, emotion, and tissue health. It is hard to change your posture just from telling yourself to “stand up straight”. You can do exercises to strengthen weak areas and stretches but you can’t just think “stand up straight” and expect to be able to maintain that “better posture”. Rolfing helps to reset your body’s “neutral”. With Rolfing, finding good posture and efficient movement becomes easier and more natural which allows standing up straight to just happen naturally.
NTG Theatre: Glorious
The Nanaimo Theatre Group (NTG) presents “Glorious”, October 17 – November 2. Based on a true story, this hilarious and heartwarming comedy tells the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a delusional and joyously happy socialite who, despite having no singing ability, performed enthusiastically for bemused audiences in 1940s New York. For more than 60 years, NTG has been entertaining audiences of all ages with a variety of productions from around the world.
