Microchip Your Pet!

A simple procedure can save a lot of heartache. Your veterinarian can inject a microchip — the size of a grain of rice — beneath the surface of your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. It’s almost instantaneous, but it contains contact information so that if you and your pet ever become separated, a shelter or veterinarian will easily be able to reunite you. Being separated from their owner, especially if lost in a strange environment, is traumatizing for an animal. Get your pet microchipped – then be sure to keep the information up-to-date if you move or change your phone number.

Celebrate Birthdays With Flowers

Flowers are a thoughtful way to make someone’s birthday feel extra special. Choose blooms that reflect their personality or favourite colours to create a meaningful gift. Bright sunflowers, cheerful daisies, elegant lilies, or classic roses each send a unique message of joy and appreciation. Adding a handwritten card makes your gift even more personal. If you cannot celebrate in person, having flowers delivered is a wonderful way to let someone know you are thinking of them. A beautiful bouquet brightens any room, lifts the spirit, and creates lasting memories that continue long after the birthday celebration has ended.

Stress Handling With Biofeedback

Everyday we have an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts running through our minds. Considering that our minds can only handle 7-10 bits of information at a time, no wonder we start to feel overwhelmed, especially at this time of the year. Unmanaged stress contributes to many health issues such as lowered immunity, headaches, exhaustion, insomnia, chronic pain, and depression, to name a few. Alternative approaches such as Biofeedback testing and treatment are very effective in handling stress. It detects imbalances, or weaknesses, in the stress handling areas of the body, and in turn, stimulates the affected areas to help the mind and body process and handle stress better.

A Summer Without Ankle Pain

Ankle pain can make it difficult to enjoy summer activities like walking, hiking, running, or playing sports. Whether it’s caused by a sprain, overuse, or an old injury, physiotherapy can help reduce pain and improve mobility. A physiotherapist will assess your ankle, identify the source of the problem, and develop a personalized treatment plan that may include strengthening exercises, balance training, manual therapy, and stretches. They can also recommend ways to prevent future injuries and support a safe return to activity. Early treatment can help you recover faster and stay active all summer.

Anti-Inflammatory Diet for Seniors

Chronic inflammation can contribute to conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and cognitive decline. An anti-inflammatory diet emphasizes whole, minimally processed foods that help support overall health. Fill your plate with colourful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats such as olive oil and fatty fish rich in omega-3s. Limit highly processed foods, sugary drinks, refined carbohydrates, and processed meats, which may promote inflammation. Herbs and spices like turmeric and ginger can also add flavour and beneficial plant compounds. Combined with regular physical activity, this eating pattern supports healthy aging and overall well-being.

Help Rebuild First Steps

In 2022, our son Will suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident. After 510 days in hospital and rehabilitation, he came home, but his recovery needed more than traditional therapy. First Steps Wellness Centre gave him renewed independence, confidence, friendships, and hope, through the research supported activity based therapy (ABT) clients receive. Sadly, the centre closed, leaving many families without this vital support. Today, seven volunteers are working to reopen this unique Manitoba non-profit rehabilitation centre for people living with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, MS, and CP. Every donation helps restore hope. Please support our GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/8767f9585 |

Denture Cleaning 101

Cleaning dentures properly helps maintain oral health and keeps them comfortable to wear. Remove dentures daily and rinse them under running water to wash away food and debris. Use a soft denture brush and a nonabrasive denture cleanser to gently clean all surfaces. Avoid regular toothpaste, as it can scratch dentures. Soak them overnight in a denture cleaning solution to help remove stains and bacteria. Rinse dentures thoroughly before wearing them again. Also clean your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth daily to prevent irritation and keep your mouth healthy and fresh.
