Dental disease is one of the most common health problems in cats and dogs, yet it often goes unnoticed. Plaque and tartar buildup can lead to gingivitis, tooth decay, and painful infections. Left untreated, bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream, affecting the heart, liver, and kidneys. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, drooling, pawing at the mouth, or reluctance to eat. Regular check-ups, professional cleanings such as ultrasonic dental cleaning and at-home care—such as brushing teeth or using dental treats—help protect oral health. Early prevention not only keeps pets’ mouths healthy but also supports their overall well-being and longevity.
Sweet Smiles, Healthy Halloween
Halloween is just around the corner, and with it comes costumes, pumpkins, and of course—candy! While enjoying a few sweet treats is all part of the fun, it’s important to remember that sugary snacks can stick to teeth and increase the risk of cavities. Encourage kids to enjoy their favorites in moderation, drink water afterward, and brush before bedtime. Halloween is also a great reminder to schedule a dental check-up. Regular visits keep smiles healthy year-round, ensuring little ghosts and goblins can enjoy their treats without tricks from tooth decay. Don’t forget—your dentist is here to help!

Laser Therapy Overview
Laser therapy can be used to manage many musculoskeletal complaints. There are 2 major categories of laser therapy used in musculoskeletal healthcare. These consist of Class 3b laser (low level laser therapy), and Class 4 laser therapy (high intensity laser therapy). At Origin, we use a Class 4 laser therapy which has higher wattage and allows for increased dosage to an area over a shorter time and deeper penetration of tissue. Laser therapy can be helpful for managing a large variety of conditions such as sprains/strains, osteoarthritis, tendinitis (including tennis/golfer elbow), shoulder injuries, plantar fasciitis and many other conditions. Give us a call if you would like to discuss laser therapy with one of our chiropractors.
