From Volunteer to TLC Ambassador
Lynn Wilson, a Lending Cupboard Ambassador, began her involvement as a volunteer in her role as Board Secretary in 2007. She has a great understanding of the organization and how it touches so many lives. After being diagnosed with MS in 2009, she knew where to go for help with medical equipment! Over the years, she’s accessed a cane, wheelchair, walker, and other daily living aids to enhance her mobility and independence. With the new location, Lynn hopes the community continues to value and support TLC as they customize the space to best suit the growing needs of the community. Legal Elder Advocacy – A Growing Need
With the aging population, there will be an increasing need to ensure that those who have become vulnerable because of frailty (physical and mental) are protected. Well-meaning friends and relatives may disagree with one another or with the aging person about where they should live and who will care for them. There may also be concerns about financial circumstances and estate planning. We work with several excellent resources within the community to help ensure that the legal needs of these vulnerable people and those who care about them are met.

Book Club: Beyond the Label
Beyond the Label offers a unique perspective on mental health: it shares the author’s own recovery from four major mental health conditions: anxiety, depression (attempted suicide), bulimia, and bipolar disorder type 1. The book outlines a detailed, step-by-step plan for how others can achieve optimal mental health. A combination of practical clinical experience and years of lived experience, the book shares insight into how diet, exercise, and sleep can be optimized for improved mental wellbeing, as well as strategies for coping with negative thoughts and emotions, and building self-love and compassion, among other skills.
