Peace Arch Hospital urgently needs to upgrade its medical imaging department. Outdated equipment causes inefficiencies and discomfort for patients. We’re close to reaching our $10 million goal for new equipment but need $1 million by August 25. Generous matching donors, the Surrey and White Rock Firefighters Charitable Societies, will match donations up to $500,000. Your contribution, big or small, will have double the impact. Together, let’s transform healthcare. Join us in Making a Difference. Support is crucial for this project. Whether through donations, advocacy, or spreading the word, every action shapes our community’s healthcare future. Donate today –
June is Migraine Awareness Month
Migraines impact one billion people across the globe and is recognized as the #2 cause of disability worldwide. While a migraine is a headache, a headache isn’t always a migraine. Headaches cause pain in the neck, sinuses, face, and head. Migraines, however, cause debilitating pain, visual disturbances, or both. They can last for hours or days and are often chronic. Without relief, migraines can cause other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness and can also lead to depression. Some of the most common triggers include stress, bright lights, sleep changes, alcohol, foods such as aged cheeses, and changes in exercise habits. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice on prevention and treatment.
Chiropractic Care for Migraines
Do you suffer from migraines? Chiropractors can help, by using various techniques targeting spinal alignment and nervous system function. Misalignments in the spine can create tension and disrupt nerve communication, contributing to migraine episodes. Through spinal adjustments, chiropractors realign the spine, relieving pressure on nerves and reducing migraine triggers. They may also employ massage therapy, stretching exercises, and lifestyle recommendations to address underlying causes like muscle tension and poor posture. By addressing these root issues, chiropractors help improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and enhance overall nervous system function, providing holistic relief for migraine sufferers. Dr. Priscilla Narotam who specializes in migraine therapy can also recommend nutritional advice to alleviate/avoid triggers.

Happy Healthy Feet
As temperatures rise, care for your feet during summer activities is crucial. Hydrate by drinking water to prevent dryness and cracking. Choose breathable footwear to avoid sweat buildup and fungal infections. Wash feet thoroughly, especially between toes, and apply sunscreen to protect from sunburn. Trim toenails straight across to prevent ingrown nails. Moisturize daily, focusing on dry areas like heels. Take breaks to rest and elevate feet to reduce swelling. Rotate shoes to prevent odor and bacterial growth. Seek professional help for persistent issues. So, slip on those sandals, hit the beach, and let your feet take you on your next summer adventure!
Say Hello to Allergy Season
It’s important to know the difference between seasonal allergies easily treatable with a simple OTC antihistamine and more serious symptoms that may require more attention. Seasonal allergies typically cause a runny nose, itchy or teary eyes, sneezing and sometimes itchy skin or a mild rash, and are caused by pollen or other airborne particles. If more serious symptoms like hives, difficulty breathing, a rapid heartbeat or feeling faint appear suddenly it may be the result of a more serious allergic reaction and immediate medical attention should be sought. Our pharmacists are always happy to provide you with the medication suitable for your symptoms if appropriate!
