Talking About Hearing Loss

Onset hearing loss is usually gradual, so it can take a long time for people with hearing impairment to realize there is a problem. While starting a conversation with a loved one experiencing hearing loss may be difficult, it’s a key step towards a solution. Strategies for having productive conversations include: *Aim to have serious discussions early in the day, before navigating daily activities. *Ask helpful questions to create an open dialogue and make everyday communication easier. For examples: “Should we have this conversation in a quieter location?” *Focus on facts and specific symptoms and encourage them to get a professional evaluation.

Infrared for Autumn Wellness

Far, middle, and near-infrared wavelengths are all part of the broad infrared healing wavelength spectrum and are responsible for the benefits people experience from infrared saunas. These wavelengths penetrate soft tissue up to an inch and a half, warming the body and opening blood vessels in a process called “vasodilation.” The result is increased blood circulation and stimulated sweat glands, delivering oxygen-rich blood to tissues and removing toxins from the body. Infrared saunas offer many benefits, including detoxification, stress and fatigue relief, muscle/joint pain relief, weight loss/calorie burning, improved immune system, increased metabolism, improved skin health, and improved heart health.

NeoClear is an alternative to slow-acting medications that helps treat mild to severe acne for fast, effective acne clearance. Regardless of which treatment you choose, you can look forward to zero downtime, zero pain, and instantly noticeable results that give you the youthful glow you want.

Hair Care & Dementia

Everyone enjoys a good pampering session at the salon from time to time, but for those with dementia it can mean a lot more. Research has shown that salon visits can provide sensory cues linked to appearance (through scents), which could be useful for reminiscence. It also suggests that hairstylists can act as ‘unofficial therapists’ who build relationships with their clients with dementia and provide emotional support to them. Hair care can be part of appearance-related support that helps enhance a person’s identity, as well as their self-expression and social participation, which are incredibly important for those with dementia.

Caring for Hearing Devices

Taking good care of your hearing aids can significantly prolong their life. *Make sure your hands are clean and dry before handling your hearing aids. *Clean them regularly using your hearing aid cleaning kit. *Remove hearing aids before showering, bathing or swimming and store in a dry location away from condensation. *Remove them before applying perfume or hair spray. *Store them in their case or drying cup away from heat sources and direct sunlight. *If you won’t be using your hearing aids for an extended period, remove the batteries and store them separately. *Use a hearing aid expert if you need repairs.
