Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for our membership to help out with activities to make our programs a success. We have people act as escorts on our bus trips or help out setting up or serving our monthly lunches. Pickleball nets do not set themselves up. To find out how you can help, call 204-416-1067 or email us at Archwood55@shaw.ca. Remember we are a club of people that look out for each other, and volunteering is an important way to give back!
Annual memberships are just $30. For more information, call 204-416-1067 or email Archwood55@shaw.ca

Spring Cleaning – A Time for Renewal & Growth

Need a hand? Give us a call!
Like to volunteer? Give us a call!!

“Every spring I wait with anticipation for the first crocus to bloom. As a farm girl, the colourful array of flowers was a sign of new beginnings and reminded me of the miracles of nature. The snow has barely melted when these cheery little blossoms of purple appear.”

Crocus blossoms are a magnet for winter weary bees, who are drawn to the rich golden pollen inside each flower. As seniors we become busy little bees as well, anxious to freshen up our houses and yards and welcome the warm sun into our homes.

For over 30 years, Saskatoon Services for seniors have enjoyed partnering with you to give the house and yard a good spring clean. We welcome your call and look forward to the new year of working together.

As seniors, let’s embrace Life’s journey and look for ways to enjoy every day!! Our contribution not only benefits the community but also enriches our lives.

May is Better Speech & Hearing Month!

Did you know that the entire month of May is dedicated to Better Speech and Hearing? During May, the hearing care industry makes a special effort to educate the public about hearing loss. Helen Keller once said that of all her sensory deprivations, she most missed her ability to hear. She noted that while blindness kept her separate from things, hearing loss separated her from people. Hearing impairment not only affects your ability to understand speech, but it also has a negative impact on your social and emotional well-being, as you struggle to carry on meaningful conversations and avoid activities.

Corporate Healthcare Champions Needed!

Help create a stronger community and demonstrate your commitment to building a positive impact on your hospital! Neighbouring businesses are participating – Are You?
When you partner with Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, you are showing your staff, customers, and community that you support initiatives that enhance the Peace Arch Hospital campus and the health and wellness of White Rock and South Surrey. In a small community like ours, people instantly recognize the changes you’re helping to make possible, resulting in a positive reputation for you and your brand. This positive reputation often leads to better relationships with customers and employees, while encouraging a sense of community spirit and camaraderie within your organization. Check Your Child’s Posture

Kids spend about 33 hours on screens each week, found a study that surveyed more than 1,400 parents. Now look at their posture when they are looking at their devices. They often assume this gargoyle like pose for hours. Though it may seem like they are just wasting time, they are also damaging their spine. The Canadian Society of Pediatrics state infants aged 0-2 years should not have any exposure to technology, 3-5 years be restricted to one hour per day, and 6-18 years restricted to two hours per day. See a chiropractor for a gentle adjustment to get your child’s spine back in properly alignment.

Mother’s Day After Loss

Mother’s Day can bring up difficult emotions, especially if your mom has passed away. It may remind you of a cherished relationship that you can no longer celebrate in the same way. However, amidst the sadness, Mother’s Day can also offer an opportunity to look back on fond memories. As much as you may be hurting, try not to hide out and ignore the holiday. Instead, find a way to honor her memory, whether it’s continuing a tradition you shared, writing a letter to her, or gathering with others who grieve her loss. If you’re struggling with grief, reaching out to a professional can provide valuable support and guidance.

What is Pharmaceutical Compounding?

Compounding pharmacies provide personalized medication solutions tailored to individual patient needs. Unlike traditional pharmacies, which dispense mass-produced medications, compounding pharmacies specialize in customizing prescriptions. They combine pharmaceutical ingredients to create formulations in unique dosages, forms, and flavors, accommodating patients with allergies, sensitivities, or specific medical requirements. Compounding pharmacists work closely with healthcare providers to develop medications not commercially available or to alter existing formulations. This personalized approach enhances treatment efficacy, promotes patient adherence, and addresses therapeutic gaps. Overall, they offer a vital service in healthcare, ensuring tailored and effective treatments for diverse patient populations.
