Spring Cleaning – A Time for Renewal & Growth

Need a hand? Give us a call!
Like to volunteer? Give us a call!!

“Every spring I wait with anticipation for the first crocus to bloom. As a farm girl, the colourful array of flowers was a sign of new beginnings and reminded me of the miracles of nature. The snow has barely melted when these cheery little blossoms of purple appear.”

Crocus blossoms are a magnet for winter weary bees, who are drawn to the rich golden pollen inside each flower. As seniors we become busy little bees as well, anxious to freshen up our houses and yards and welcome the warm sun into our homes.

For over 30 years, Saskatoon Services for seniors have enjoyed partnering with you to give the house and yard a good spring clean. We welcome your call and look forward to the new year of working together.

As seniors, let’s embrace Life’s journey and look for ways to enjoy every day!! Our contribution not only benefits the community but also enriches our lives.

May is Better Speech & Hearing Month!

Did you know that the entire month of May is dedicated to Better Speech and Hearing? During May, the hearing care industry makes a special effort to educate the public about hearing loss. Helen Keller once said that of all her sensory deprivations, she most missed her ability to hear. She noted that while blindness kept her separate from things, hearing loss separated her from people. Hearing impairment not only affects your ability to understand speech, but it also has a negative impact on your social and emotional well-being, as you struggle to carry on meaningful conversations and avoid activities.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for our membership to help out with activities to make our programs a success. We have people act as escorts on our bus trips or help out setting up or serving our monthly lunches. Pickleball nets do not set themselves up. To find out how you can help, call 204-416-1067 or email us at [email protected]. Remember we are a club of people that look out for each other, and volunteering is an important way to give back!
Annual memberships are just $30. For more information, call 204-416-1067 or email [email protected]

Spring Nutrition for Seniors

Spring brings with it a crop of nutrient-rich superfoods that are especially beneficial for older adults. As you age, it’s vital to eat healthy foods to maintain weight, manage and prevent diabetes and boost brain health. Spring is a great time to swap out processed foods that lack nutritional value for fresh fruits and vegetables. Some spring super-foods that are perfect for seniors to enjoy include artichokes, leaks, asparagus, green peas, watercress, strawberries and spinach. These springtime favourites are packed with vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants needed to live a healthy lifestyle.
